Geckos for Sale at Reptile Life

Looking for geckos for sale and want a small reptile that is a bit different, easy to enjoy and fun to watch? Reptile Life can help you choose a pet gecko and get the right setup sorted from the start.

Across our stores in Hoppers Crossing, Ferntree Gully, Norlane and Elizabeth South, you can ask about current gecko availability, gecko enclosures, substrate, water bowls, hide caves, climbing branches, small crickets, calcium with vitamin D3 and package options.

Marbled Geckos are a popular choice because they stay small, do not need a large enclosure, and can suit new reptile keepers when the setup is done properly. They are quiet, low-fuss little reptiles, but they still need the right home, food and care.

If you are new to geckos, no worries. Come in, have a chat with the team, and we will help you understand what you need before you buy.

Why Choose a Pet Gecko?

A pet gecko can be a great little reptile for someone who wants something interesting without jumping straight into a large enclosure or a more demanding reptile setup.

Marbled Geckos are small, active and enjoyable to watch. They can be a good fit for beginners when the enclosure is secure, the food is right, and the basic care routine is understood.

They also do not need the same large setup that many reptiles need. That makes them a practical option for people who want to start the reptile hobby in a simpler, more manageable way.

That said, simple does not mean careless. A gecko still needs a safe enclosure, fresh water, proper food, calcium support and a setup that stops it from escaping.

Marbled Geckos and Licence Requirements

The geckos featured across these Reptile Life pages are Marbled Geckos, which are native to Southern Australia and usually grow to around 6–7cm.

The existing Reptile Life gecko pages note that Marbled Geckos are exempt from wildlife licensing in Victoria and South Australia, which can make them easier to organise than many other reptiles. Even so, it is always smart to ask the team about current requirements before buying, especially if you are unsure.

This makes Marbled Geckos an approachable choice for many new keepers, but the care still needs to be taken seriously. The right setup makes all the difference.

Gecko Beginners Are Welcome

New to geckos? You are welcome here.

A gecko can be a lovely starting point for the reptile hobby, especially if you want something small and interesting without needing a massive enclosure. Our team can help you understand the basics, including enclosure size, substrate, feeding, calcium, cleaning and safe handling expectations.

We can also help you avoid the common beginner mistake: choosing a setup that is not secure enough. Geckos are clever little escape artists, so the enclosure needs to close properly and suit their size.

Bring your questions in store and we will help you get the setup sorted properly.

Gecko Enclosure and Setup Requirements

A gecko does not need a huge enclosure, but it does need a secure and suitable one.

As a starting point, the existing Reptile Life gecko pages recommend an enclosure of at least 30cm x 30cm. The setup should include:

A water bowl
A hidden area or hide cave
A branch or climbing area
Suitable substrate or bedding
A secure lid or door

Good bedding options may include aquarium gravel, specialised reptile bedding, or natural bark and leaf mulch where suitable. The main thing is to create a space that is practical, safe and easy to maintain.

Geckos are escape artists, so do not cut corners on the enclosure. A secure setup gives you peace of mind and keeps your little reptile where it belongs.

Gecko Food, Calcium and Day-to-Day Care

Feeding a gecko is fairly straightforward once you know the routine.

Small crickets are commonly recommended for pet geckos. These can be offered in small amounts, such as a few at a time, depending on your gecko’s needs and the advice given in store.

Geckos also need a source of calcium with vitamin D3. A common approach is to lightly dust the crickets before feeding, which helps support healthy bones and general wellbeing.

If you are not sure how often to feed, what size crickets to choose, or how to use calcium powder properly, ask the Reptile Life team before you get started.

Gecko Package Deals and Setup Options

If you are buying your first gecko, a package can make the process much easier.

Depending on current store availability, gecko package options may include the gecko, enclosure, substrate, water bowl and hide cave. This helps you start with the main essentials together instead of trying to piece everything together on your own.

You can also ask the team about other useful setup items, such as a climbing branch, food, calcium with vitamin D3 and suitable bedding.

Package availability can change, so contact your preferred store or visit in person to check what is currently available.
